Ultimate Start Guide for Beginner who starting their career in UX Ui in 2020.

What software you are using? How to become a pro designer? How to switch from graphic designer to UX designer? How to start my design career?

What are the UX (User Experience) and UI( User Interface) design?

“User experience (UX) is the interaction and experience users have with a company’s products and services. The user interface (UI) is the specific asset users interact with. For example, UI can deal with traditional concepts like visual design elements such as colors and typography. UX Designer

UX design refers to user experience design, while UI design stands for user interface design. Both of these are crucial to an IT product and need to work closely together. Despite being very integral to each other, the roles themselves are quite different, involving distinct processes.

The user experience (UX) is what a user of a particular product experience when using that product. A UX designer’s job is thus to create a product that provides the best possible user experience. How does that happen?

Well, it starts with a lot of research. You can’t create anything of value to a user unless you understand what kind of problems they want to solve and how you can solve those problems so that the user will want—or better still, need—your solution. You can only get that understanding by interacting with users.

What Do Graphic Design and UX Design Have in Common?

viral-patel-studio-ux-ui-graphics-designer-creative-design (19)

Graphics Designer is more of Pixel focused & have Specialized in tools & concepts.

Whereas, UX Ui Designer is User-Focused with Multi-Disciplinary with the products.

But they do have things in common i.e Emotional Design, Thinking Creative, Visualization & Prototyping Concepts.

So I believe, always start with a sketch,
It will reduce more than 50% of your time rather than directly jumping on to the software.

A sketch will give you a quick visual output, which on the application will take tons of time creating it, designing it, making the changes again and again.

Eraser does that much faster for you while sketching! 😄

UX designers tend to be concerned with, 3 primary factors:
The look of a product,
The feel of that product
& the usability of that product.

Steps to Become a UI/UX designer:

There are many areas of design: UI, UX, product designers, graphic designers, interaction designers, information architects, and the list goes on.

Start by figuring out which specialty interests you more. For now, let’s focus on the most common type: a mix of interface and experience: UI/UX designer.

Familiarize yourself with UI principles.
Color | Balance | Contrast | Typography | Consistency

Learn the Creative UX process.
The next thing is to understand the creative process. UI/UX design is a process of specific phases that every creative person goes through.

Divided into four distinct phases,
Discover | Define | Develop | Deliver

Try the Double Diamond process, it is a simple visual map of the design process.

Double diamond is a 4-phase development process created by the British Design Council in 2005 that belongs to the design thinking discipline. It was created following the ways designers think unconsciously through a standard process of what we call “designing” (to solve problems diverging and converging).

Develop your eye for design
Knowing design principles is great, but sometimes it’s not enough, you also have to train your eye to see a good design and bad design and to identify strengths and weaknesses in designs.
The most effective way to train your eye for design is through inspiration.
Before opening a blank canvas and staring at it for half an hour, know that the only way to be creative is through research. Sometimes the mind can’t create ideas on its own, you have to first look at other designs to start creating your own, especially when you’re a beginner.

UX designers are in high demand

From mobile gadgets to smart appliances, plugins, dongles, and paraphernalia, tech has become an essential part of our lives.
With these, comes the need for UX and UI design. Interfaces may be found on almost every gadget and appliance; to display the time and music selection on smartwatches, or to display the ingredients that can be found in a smart refrigerator.
With the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoTs), the design of interfaces has become a specialized design discipline in recent years.

Tech startups that prided itself on ‘disrupting’ and ‘shaking up’ the industry, often attribute their success on UX design. Many hope to ‘give consumers back their rights’ by entering markets dominated by the ‘unfair practices of large organizations’.

This user-centric model is the basis for UX design where services and products are shaped by how users interact with them.

As UX design is closely related to business strategies, companies prefer to keep the (UX design) job within the organization rather than outsourcing them.

Traditional large organizations too are catching up with this digital transformation by hiring In-house UX/UI designers and engineers. These organizations may also hire UX designers from consultancies to reduce headcount in the company.

Let’s be honest here, multiple reports suggest that a UX designer typically earns more than a graphic designer, which is soo true !
According to PayScale,
the average salary for a graphic designer in the
US is $42,000,
while an average UX Ui designer receives

Whereas, the average salary for a graphic designer
in India is approx. 3,00,000 INR,
while an average UX Ui designer receives
5,60,000 INR per annum!

Mentor and get mentored

Another great way to learn design is to find a design mentor or designer friend who is willing to help. They will help you speed up your learning process.
The designer would review your work and give their comments whenever possible.

Also, from the few years that I taught design and front-end, I learned more than I taught. When you’re ready to start talking about design with people, you can mentor or educate someone about design. You will learn to see it from a different perspective and you will get feedback and questions that you might’ve never thought about.

Whenever you’re talking about design with other people, your mind will be in “brainstorm” mode all the time and you will find yourself getting interested in design more and more.

It’s like a shortcut. They would also give you tips and tricks they learned from their experience.

And that’s what I’m passionate for, I love to help the freshers & people who have the same love with the designs that I’ve.
